Breaking The Rules: Winter Whites

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

I’m sure we’ve all heard of the many dos and don’ts of fashion. From not mixing prints, sunglasses having to be neutral, to having to refrain from wearing denim on denim. However, some fashion rules are made to be broken! If you’re not convinced, 2020 has proven to be one of the most innovative years in fashion, as creatives were put to the ultimate test to create different looks, whether they had somewhere to go or not. The COVID-19 pandemic birthed the WFH (working from home) media trend and validated dressing up as if you were going to the Met Gala, when you’re really going to a Zoom work meeting. One of the most common fashion rules that I love to rebel against is not wearing white after Labor Day. In today’s post, I’ll be showing you guys my approach to the winter white look.

As you can see, I’m wearing a white hoodie with a white ruched skirt and a longline fur coat. For a casual approach, I threw on my classic Air Force 1s. Accessories are very important when building a look, so of course I added a white ruched bag, diamante clips, and some everyday rings.

The way to successfully pull off the winter white look is to mix different shades of white as well as prints and textures, like I did here. The renaissance text print of the white skirt and bag adds a chic touch to the edge that the classic white hoodie and Air Force 1s bring to the outfit. The white fur bubble maxi coat completes the look, executing the ultimate, luxe winter vibe.

Look Details:

Coat, Skirt, & Bag: Pretty Little Thing

Hooded Sweater: Zara

Shoes: Nike (custom by ASOS)

Hair Clips: NastyGal

I hope you guys are inspired and find some innovative ways to wear white this season! Have a happy holiday and prosperous New Year! Stay tuned for more posts and looks.
